How to Enter Story Mode and Make Videos in Story Mode
Have you watched any TikTok videos discussing Story mode? If so, you may be wondering how to record videos in this new TikTok mode as well as what Story mode is. Story mode is a new recording option for TikTok that works similarly to BeReal in that it records videos at a smaller aspect ratio and lets you record simultaneously from the front and back cameras. Story mode videos, according to many users, are higher quality and more lucid than standard TikTok videos. We'll walk you through using Story mode in this article, as well as what to do if you can't see Story mode on your TikTok.
Recording in Story Mode
Step 1: Open TikTok and tap the + button.
This will allow you to begin recording a new video.
Step 2: Scroll to the "Story" option above the camera button.
Story mode allows you to record a video that is slightly zoomed out with a smaller aspect ratio, and allows you to record from the front and back cameras at the same time.
You may see something called Photo mode instead. While this may be a technical bug, it appears like Photo mode is the same as Story mode for now.
Step 3: Tap the square icon on the left side of the screen to record with both cameras.
A little box will pop up, and if you tap this box, it will allow you to add the other camera as a recording source.
Step 4: Press and hold the record button to make your video.
Record your video as you normally would.
Step 5: Post your video to TikTok.
You can post these videos to TikTok like any other video. Simply tap through the options on the screen to post it to your TikTok account.
Getting Story Mode to Show Up
Step 1: Update your TikTok app.
If you don't see Story mode, check the App Store or Google Play Store to see if TikTok has an update available. If so, update your app before checking for Story mode again.
Step 2: Log out and log back in.
Logging out and back in can help force Story mode to appear on your TikTok.
Step 3: Delete the app and reinstall.
If you do not see the Story mode option when recording, try deleting the app and reinstalling it from your phone's app store.
Step 4: Delete your TikTok cache.
In your settings, you can delete your TikTok cache. You can try clearing this to see if it forces Story mode to show up.
Step 5: Wait for TikTok to add Story mode for you.
Like many other apps, TikTok rolls out new features to users in waves. If you don't see the Story mode feature, wait for the next TikTok update to see if it shows up.
